Memories & Mandate

Precious memories:

Almost 4 years ago, God healed some pretty deep wounds in me.  It wasn't something I really understood at the time - all I knew is it wasn't me - it was ALL HIM!  I had gone to a conference and it turned out to be a very special time - and though I felt a little uncomfortable in my flesh, my spirit was completely at peace and full of excitement!  I had no desire to sleep that night - my only desire was to bask in His presence.  I finally did sleep, and when I woke up, there were words floating around in my head...oil, joy, anointing, gladness.  They totally described what the Lord had done for me the night before.  Later, I found the verses in Isaiah.

Last fall, I was at a different conference, and once again, these verses ministered to me.  But this time, I felt the Lord was giving me a mandate.  [to authorize or decree (a particular action)]  I'm not real sure exactly what all it means, but I have an idea - and I know that God's plan and purpose is much bigger than I could even hope to imagine.  Pretty exciting...

1THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, 2To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.  Isaiah 61:1-3
